Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour
  • Granulated sugar
  • Baking powder
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground nutmeg (optional)
  • Salt
  • Milk
  • Large eggs
  • Unsalted butter, melted
  • Vanilla extract
  • Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled, cored, and diced)

For the glaze:

  • Powdered sugar
  • Milk
  • Vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Toss diced apples with cinnamon and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in apples.
  • Scoop batter onto the prepared baking sheet in fritter-sized portions.
  • Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm fritters or dip fritters into the glaze. Allow to set before serving.

  • For added crunch, mix in chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts.
  • Substitute apples with pears or peaches for a seasonal variation.
  • Glaze is optional; you can use powdered sugar for a lighter finish.
