Baklava Muffins combine the sweet, nutty flavors of classic baklava with the convenience of a muffin. These soft, fluffy muffins are filled with honey, cinnamon, and a mix of nuts, making them the perfect treat for breakfast or dessert.

 

Ingredients

  • For the Muffins:
    • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • ½ tsp baking soda
    • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
    • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • ½ cup milk
    • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 cup mixed nuts (walnuts, pistachios, or almonds), chopped
  • For the Honey Syrup:
    • ¼ cup honey
    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
    • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  • Prepare the Muffin Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the chopped nuts.
  • Fill the Muffin Tin: Spoon the muffin batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
  • Bake: Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the muffins comes out clean.
  • Make the Honey Syrup: While the muffins are baking, prepare the syrup by melting the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes until combined.
  • Glaze the Muffins: Once the muffins are baked and slightly cooled, drizzle the honey syrup over the tops of the muffins.
  • Serve: Let the muffins sit for a few minutes to absorb the syrup, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Warm up the muffins in the microwave for a few seconds before serving.
