Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp French dressing
  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 4 sesame seed buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Dill pickle slices
  • Shredded lettuce

Instructions

  • Prepare the Sloppy Joe Mixture:
    • In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium-high heat until beef is browned and onion is translucent. Drain excess fat.
    • Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.
  • Make the Special Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, French dressing, and sweet pickle relish until combined. Set aside.
  • Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
    • Lightly toast sesame seed buns.
    • Spread a layer of special sauce on the bottom half of each bun.
    • Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture over the sauce.
    • Top with cheddar cheese, dill pickle slices, shredded lettuce, and the top half of the bun.
