  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Remoulade Sauce (Optional):

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and place them in a bowl.
  • Make the Blackening Seasoning: In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  • Season the Shrimp: Toss the shrimp with olive oil and the spice blend until evenly coated.
  • Cook the Shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes per side until blackened and cooked through.
  • Prepare the Remoulade Sauce: In a small bowl, mix all the remoulade sauce ingredients. Chill until ready to serve.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Serve the blackened shrimp with remoulade sauce, or use them in tacos, salads, or over rice.

Notes

  • Add extra cayenne pepper for more spice.
  • For a citrusy twist, toss the shrimp with melted butter and lemon juice after cooking.
  • Swap the spice mix for a Cajun seasoning blend for a different flavor.
