Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup chunky peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Mix-Ins:

  • 1 ¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pretzels, divided
  • ½ cup peanut butter chips

Instructions

Prepare the Pretzels:

  1. Crush Pretzels – Place pretzels in a sealable bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Aim for coarse pieces, not fine crumbs.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  1. Whisk Together – In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter & Sugars:

  1. Beat Butter & Sugars – In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Wet Ingredients:

  1. Mix in Eggs & Peanut Butter – Add eggs, peanut butter, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

Combine Wet & Dry:

  1. Add Dry Ingredients – Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.

Fold in Mix-Ins:

  1. Add Chocolate & Pretzels – Gently fold in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup of chopped pretzels. The batter will be thick.

Prepare for Baking:

  1. Spread Batter – Evenly spread the dough into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top.

Top & Bake:

  1. Add Toppings – Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup chopped pretzels, ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips over the top.
  2. Bake – Place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool & Serve:

  1. Let Cool – Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing.
  2. Cut & Enjoy – Slice into squares and serve!

Notes

  • Variations:
    • Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark, white, or milk chocolate.
    • Mix in toffee bits, crushed potato chips, or chopped nuts for extra crunch.
    • Use creamy peanut butter if you prefer a smoother texture.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
  • Freezing: Wrap bars tightly and freeze for up to 6 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • Reheating: Microwave for 10-15 seconds for a warm, gooey treat.
