A healthier alternative to fried wings, these crispy oven-baked chicken wings are coated in a savory dry rub, ensuring a flavorful and satisfying treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken wing portions
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and place a wire rack on top.
  • Prepare the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels and toss them in olive oil until evenly coated.
  • Mix the Dry Rub: Combine brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, paprika, salt, chili powder, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  • Season the Wings: Sprinkle the dry rub over the wings and toss until fully coated.
  • Arrange on Rack: Place the wings on the prepared rack in a single layer without overlapping.
  • Bake: Bake for 35-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are crispy and golden brown.
  • Serve: Let the wings rest for a few minutes after removing from the oven. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure the wings are completely dry before seasoning.
  • Add smoked paprika or citrus zest for a unique flavor twist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven at 375°F (190°C).
