These Crispy-Soft Apples have the perfect balance of textures—golden and caramelized on the outside while staying tender and juicy inside. Lightly spiced and naturally sweetened, they make a delicious breakfast topping, snack, or dessert. Enjoy them on pancakes, oatmeal, ice cream, or yogurt for a warm and comforting treat!

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Apples:

  • Core and slice apples into thin wedges or cubes. Peeling is optional.

2. Heat the Butter:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter or coconut oil.

3. Caramelize the Apples:

  • Add apple slices and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Add Sweetener & Spices:

  • Sprinkle brown sugar (or honey/maple syrup), cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice over the apples.
  • Stir and cook for another 3–5 minutes until the apples are golden, tender, but still slightly crisp.

5. Finish with Vanilla & Serve:

  • Stir in vanilla extract, then remove from heat.
  • Serve warm on pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, or ice cream

Notes

  • For Crispier Apples: Cook them in a single layer without stirring too often.
  • For Extra Caramelization: Let them cook a minute longer without stirring.
  • Healthier Version: Reduce butter slightly and use honey or maple syrup.
