Homemade Maple Pudding is a rich and creamy dessert that highlights the deep, natural sweetness of pure maple syrup. Made with simple ingredients, this no-bake treat is easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups half & half (or whole milk)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature and cubed

Instructions

Prepare the Pudding Base:

  1. Whisk Ingredients – In a medium saucepan, whisk together maple syrup, half & half, eggs, brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt until fully combined.

Cook the Pudding:

  1. Heat the Mixture – Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk continuously for about 15-20 minutes until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency.
  2. Remove from Heat – Once thickened, remove from heat and whisk in vanilla extract and butter until fully incorporated.

Chill & Serve:

  1. Transfer to Serving Dishes – Pour the pudding into a large bowl or individual ramekins.
  2. Prevent Skin Formation – Place plastic wrap directly on the pudding surface to prevent a skin from forming.
  3. Chill – Refrigerate until completely set (at least 4 hours or overnight).
  4. Serve & Enjoy – Garnish with whipped cream, toasted nuts, or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

  • Variations: Use tapioca starch instead of cornstarch, or add cinnamon for extra warmth.
  • Storage: Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Best enjoyed chilled; no reheating needed.
