  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Strawberries

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with ½ cup of sugar.
  2. Lightly mash the strawberries with a fork or potato masher to release their juices.
  3. Let the mixture sit for at least 30 minutes to macerate.

Step 2: Make the Ice Cream Base
4. In a large bowl, whisk together the remaining ½ cup sugar, heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and salt.
5. Stir until the sugar fully dissolves.

Step 3: Combine with Strawberries
6. Pour the macerated strawberries and their juices into the cream mixture.
7. Stir until well combined.

Step 4: Chill the Mixture

Step 5: Churn the Ice Cream
9. Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker.
10. Churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually about 20-25 minutes) until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Step 6: Freeze the Ice Cream
11. Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container.
12. Press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals from forming.
13. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until firm.

14. Scoop into bowls or cones and serve immediately.
15. Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired.
