Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (or rice vinegar)

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

  • 1 tablespoon water (optional, for cornstarch slurry)

Instructions

  • Prep the Chicken:
Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.

  • Cook the Chicken:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and cook for 6-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  • Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:
In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

  • Thicken the Sauce (Optional):
If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  • Combine Chicken and Sauce:
Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the honey garlic sauce over the chicken. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavors.

  • Serve:
Serve the honey garlic chicken over rice, with roasted vegetables, or on a salad. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.

  • You can use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier result.

  • Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less honey depending on your taste
