Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup hot fudge sauce, plus extra for drizzling
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter & Sugar:

    • In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes).
  4. Add Eggs & Vanilla:

    • Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients:

    • Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
    • Gently fold in hot fudge sauce and optional chocolate chips/nuts.
  6. Bake the Brownie Bread:

    • Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
    • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool & Serve:

    • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
    • Drizzle with hot fudge sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Nutty Version: Add ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans.
  • Mocha Twist: Substitute ¼ cup of buttermilk with strong brewed coffee.
