Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (for the sauce)
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until smooth.
  • Fold in the chopped walnuts evenly.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup maple syrup and water, heating over medium heat until well combined.
  • Pour the maple syrup mixture evenly over the batter.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the pudding is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm. Optionally top with more chopped walnuts or whipped cream.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter.
  • You can use pecans or almonds instead of walnuts for a different twist.
  • For a dairy-free option, replace the butter and milk with plant-based alternatives.
