Perfect for holidays, gatherings, or a cozy afternoon snack, these cookies are easy to make and customizable with various add-ins. Enjoy them with tea or coffee for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  • Cream the Butter and Sugar:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add the flour and salt to the butter mixture, mixing until fully combined. If you’re using vanilla extract, add it at this stage.
  • Shape the Cookies:
    • Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Alternatively, you can shape the dough into a log and slice it into rounds.
  • Bake:
    • Place the cookie dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each cookie slightly with a fork or your hands.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cookies are set.
  • Cool and Serve:
    • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy these cookies with a cup of tea or coffee!

Notes

  • Chocolate Chip Variation: Add 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips to the dough for a sweet twist.
  • Sprinkles: Add festive colored sprinkles on top of the cookies before baking for a fun touch.
  • Flavor Variations: You can try adding almond extract, or a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
