This Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak is a comforting and hearty dish featuring tender beef patties smothered in a rich onion gravy. Ingredients

For the Patties:

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅔ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 12 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 12 tbsp cooking oil
  • 12 tbsp butter

For the Gravy:

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 (10 oz) cans beef broth or beef consommé
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 envelope Lipton onion soup mix
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch
  • 8 tbsp water

Instructions

Prepare the Patties:

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Use a ½ cup measuring cup to portion and shape 8 equal-sized patties.

2. Brown the Patties:

  1. Heat cooking oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Working in batches, sear patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned.
  3. Transfer the browned patties to a greased slow cooker.

3. Prepare the Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet, sauté chopped onion for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  2. Add beef broth, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and onion soup mix.
  3. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

4. Combine & Cook:

  1. Pour the gravy mixture over the patties in the slow cooker.
  2. Cover and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or LOW for 5-6 hours, until patties are tender and cooked through.

5. Thicken the Gravy:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
  2. Pour the slurry into the slow cooker and gently stir.
  3. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes, until the gravy thickens.

6. Serve:

  • Serve the Salisbury steak patties hot with a generous spoonful of rich onion gravy.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles, and a side of vegetables.
