Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 3¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup butter, softened

For the Filling:

  • 1 (21 oz) can strawberry pie filling
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon sugar

For the Glaze:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup half and half
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (from 1 lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a small saucepan, combine milk and butter. Heat over medium-low until the butter melts, then remove from heat and let it cool to lukewarm.
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2¼ cups flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the egg and water, mixing until partially combined. Slowly pour in the milk-butter mixture and the remaining 1 cup of flour, mixing until smooth. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Roll Out the Dough:
    • On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a 9×15-inch rectangle, about ¼ to ½ inch thick.
    • Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly over the dough.
  3. Add Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:
    • In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle evenly over the strawberry filling.
  4. Form the Rolls:
    • Starting from the long side of the rectangle, roll up the dough tightly into a log, pinching the seams to seal.
    • Slice the log into 9 to 12 pieces and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Cover with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Bake the Rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake the rolls for 30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  6. Prepare the Glaze:
    • While the rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar in a small bowl until smooth.
    • Add half and half, vanilla, lemon juice, and lemon zest, mixing until fully combined.
  7. Glaze and Serve:
    • Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for about 5 minutes.
    • Drizzle the lemon cream cheese glaze over the warm rolls and serve!
