Turtle Magic Bars are a delicious twist on classic magic bars, featuring layers of semi-sweet chocolate, crunchy pecans, gooey caramel, and a buttery shortbread crust. Perfect for holidays, gatherings, or an indulgent treat, these bars are simple to make and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of fine sea salt (optional)

For the Layers:

  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans
  • 1 ½ cups caramel bits
  • 12 ounces sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat Oven – Set to 350°F (175°C). Line a 7×11-inch baking dish with foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  2. Make the Dough – In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Incorporate Dry Ingredients – Gradually add flour (and sea salt, if using), mixing until combined.
  4. Form the Crust – Press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Bake – Bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.

Assemble the Bars:

  1. Layer the Toppings – Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips over the warm crust. Add chopped pecans and caramel bits on top.
  2. Drizzle Condensed Milk – Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the entire mixture to bind the layers.

Bake & Cool:

  1. Final Bake – Return to the oven and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  2. Cool Completely – Allow bars to cool in the pan before slicing.

Serve:

  1. Cut into Bars – Once cooled, lift foil from the pan, cut into squares, and serve.
